Dodge ist eine US-amerikanische Automarke der Chrysler Group LLC.Von 1914 bis 1927 trug die Firma den Namen Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicle Company. 1914 begannen die Dodge-Brüder mit ihrer eigenen Automobilfabrik. Die ersten Modelle ähnelten dem damals berühmten Ford T, wiesen aber einige Verbesserungen auf, wie z. B. Elektrostarter (gegenüber der „T“-Handkurbel) und wurden beliebt als Mittelklasse-Fahrzeuge. Die neuen Dodge waren ein kommerzieller Erfolg. 1925 wurde Dodge für 146 Millionen US-Dollar von der Dillon and Read Company gekauft, seinerzeit die größte finanzielle Transaktion der Geschichte. Dillon and Read verkaufte Dodge am 31. Juli 1928 an Chrysler. Die Marke Dodge bediente das mittelpreisige Segment zwischen den anderen Marken Plymouth und DeSoto und produzierte neben Autos auch LKW und Busse. Als 1973 die Ölkrise auch die USA traf waren die Modelle für Käuferbedürfnisse zu groß und übermotorisiert, so dass fortan auch Modelle der Marke Chrysler vertrieben wurden, die sich nur in Details unterschieden.
